Barney Panofsky is a cigar-smoking hard-drinking television producer in Montreal with a vulgar vocabulary. For the most part, Barney has been unlucky in love. His first wife committed suicide after Barney found out that the still born child she gave birth to wasn't his. He discovers his second wife in bed with his best friend Boogie and they end up in divorce. His third wife, Miriam, is the true love of his life, but Barney's jealousy and drinking drive Miriam away to New York City. As he gets older and starts fighting dementia, Barney looks back on all of his loves, but especially Miriam, the only one he truly loved. |
