Once a burglar, Bernice “Bernie” Rhodenbarr decides to take up a life of crime again when a shady cop blackmails her. Her first job is for a dentist, Dr. Cynthia Sheldrake. She hires Bernie to recover her jewelry from her ex-husband’s home. The ex-husband is mysteriously murdered while Bernie is stealing the jewelry. Bernie becomes the prime suspect in the murder case. While Bernie and her friend look for exonerating information, they learn shocking details about the ex-husbands life, including the fact that he had numerous girlfriends and boyfriends. People with the information Bernie needs start turning up dead. It’s going to take all the criminal skills Bernie has to find the true murderer and clear her name. |
