Arthur Parker is a Chicago based sheet music salesman. Arthur struggles to make ends meet for he and his wife, Joan, who refuses to give Arthur money she inherited to start a business. Thus, Arthur gets by while fantasizing how much better life would be if everything were like the songs he sells. Arthur meets, Eileen, an attractive but shy school teacher. They have romance, but when Joan finds out she decides to give Arthur the money he desires. Meanwhile, Eileen discovers she is pregnant with Arthur's child. This gets her fired from her teaching job. Eileen finds comfort with conniving pimp, Tom. Arthur and Eileen hook up again, but their dreams of a new life are shattered after Arthur is wrongfully accused of murder. |
