Carrie Watts is an elderly woman determined to travel back to the small town she once cherished, despite the misgivings presented by her son and daughter-in-law, who refuse to allow her to travel solo. Watts makes her plans in secret and after discovering that trains no longer service the town of Bountiful where she is headed, she is able to obtain a bus ticket. On the bus trip there, she befriends a young woman also travelling alone before the police catch up with Mrs. Watts, who has been reported missing by her family. The sheriff gallantly offers to fulfill her wish to see Bountiful again by driving her there personally, but she sadly discovers not much is left of the town and returns to Houston. |
