While the armed forces battle the Viet Cong in the mountains and jungles of Vietnam, Sergeant McGriff and Sergeant Perkins investigate a series of murders in the South Vietnamese capital of Saigon. The victims are prostitutes, and the suspects are a high-ranking US Army officers; the investigation has gone nowhere in a year, apparently on the orders of the higher-ups. Stymied at just about every turn, and realizing that the military authorities are working against them, McGriff and Perkins enlist the help and advice of a Catholic nun, Sister Niole, who serves as a guide through the city's seedy underworld. Closing in on their target, they wind up in a tunnel used by the Viet Cong guerrillas, where they discover the real culprit is the last man they suspected. |
