Overview
Doctor Parnassus is the proprietor of the Imaginarium, a mystical traveling act in which he manipulates his audience's imaginations to thrilling effect. He is also immortal, a power that represents the spoils of a bet he won centuries ago against the Devil, herein known as Mr. Nick, and the Devil is returning for his due. Holding him accountable for their earlier bargain, he plans to collect Doctor Parnassus's daughter Valentina upon her sixteenth birthday but is intrigued by the Doctor's desperation and concocts a new deal: He will allow Valentina to stay in the earthly realm if Doctor Parnassus and his trouple can best Mr. Nick in a soul-gathering competition.
