Overview
A top-secret government germ warfare experiment goes horribly awry in the form of a meteorite that crashes in rural California. Shadowy government "cleaners" move in to try and cover-up the mishap before locals stumble upon the evidence, which includes a creature that emits a deadly "blob-like" substance that seemingly can't be controlled by terrestrial methods. When local teenagers become involved and attempt to alert the local authorities, their warnings go unheeded, leading to several grisly deaths and near-pandemonium in the otherwise sleepy town. When all government solutions fall short, it's up to the teenagers to come up with an antidote. After several failures, they finally hit on an effective method to eradicate the menace, or so it appears. The film's ending scene however, foreshadows a possible return of "The Blob."
