The scenario is a familiar one: Girl from a privileged background falls for a boy from the proverbial wrong side of the tracks. Pampered cheerleader Tracey finds herself inexplicably drawn to rebellious bad-boy classmate Johnny and they begin an (at first) innocent affair. When the unlikely relationship evolves into something more serious, the opposition and obstacles emerge from every corner of their small, working-class blue-collar town, leading to conflicts with their families and social circles. Both characters are subsequently forced to confront their differing set of problems: Tracey's snobbish steady boyfriend presents her with potential life-changing decisions, while Johnny is driven to make amends with his own family issues, primarily with his distant and estranged mother as well as his undeserved reputation among the close-knit community. |
