Overview
A retired jewel thief, John Robie, is living a quiet but luxurious life on the French Riviera. A new crop of jewelry burglaries is occurring, and someone is trying to frame John for these new thefts. He needs to find out who is trying to frame him by copying his former modus operandi, and seeks the help of his former accomplices. They resist involvement with him since they have been granted pardons for their contributions to the Resistance. With the help of a detective, John starts watching and suspecting the wealthy visitors to the French Riviera, especially Jessie Royce Landis. Jessie's daughter, Frances, falls in love with John, who is set on proving his innocence while his possible guilt is his main attraction for Frances.
