Trailer | Overview This dramatic examination of how the Hollywood blacklist affected the lives of numerous victims hones in on the life of film director David Merrill. His workaholism has made him estranged from his wife and child. And upon returning from a project in France, he is told by his studio boss that he must appear to answer questions before members of the House Un-American Activities Committee. Because Merrill, who is not a Communist but has attended their meetings, refuses to answer the committee's questions regarding fellow entertainment executive Bunny Baxter, he finds himself in the uncomfortable position of being blacklisted. Pushed to his limit when he is unable to continue working, even under a pseudonym, Merrill agrees to name names but feels extremely guilt-ridden by his decision. |
