Overview
Headed by veteran Captain Lieutenant Prochnow, the intrepid German submarine U-96 sails the Atlantic Ocean during World War II looking for Allied ships to sink. On board is journalist Lieutenant Werner, who soon becomes caught up in life aboard the U-boat. Confined in cramped quarters, Werner and the crew must contend with danger from enemy vessels and aircraft, as well as sinking morale. When they are ordered to make a dangerous run into the Mediterranean, the crew begins to doubt that they will survive the war.
