Overview
When a plane carrying former Soviet ballet star Rodchenko goes down, the KGB see an opportunity to get him back. Rodchenko had defected to the West, and the Soviets had not enjoyed that publicity. Once they have him back in Leningrad, they want to force him to dance for his own country again. They use Rodchenko’s former girlfriend to try to convince him to stay. They also have an American tap dancer named Raymond keep an eye on him. While Rodchenko was defecting to the West, Raymond had defected the other way. Against the odds, this unlikely pair becomes friends and Raymond decides to help Rodchenko escape so he too can go back to the West and take his pregnant Russian wife with him.
