Overview
Based semi-autobiographically on the life of its director, Franco Zeffirelli, the focus is on a young boy named Luca, the illegitimate son of an executive from Italy. Treated with complete disinterest by his father, Luca finds himself in the care of a group of English expatriate socialite woman known as the Scorpioni after his mother's untimely death. His tale from this point onward involves various formative experiences and interactions with the Scorpioni during the era of the Second World War, from the rise of Mussolini's Fascists to the fall of the Axis. It's on this wartime backdrop that a young man's life is shaped.
