Annie Laird is a single mother who lives in New York. Her passion is sculpting, and she supports her art by working as a data entry clerk. While serving as a juror for the trial of a mob boss, she meets Mark Cordell who buys some of her art and takes her to dinner. She's flattered until she realizes Cordell is working for the mob boss who's on trial for murder. Annie is frightened for her life and the life of her son, and convinces her fellow jurors to acquit. Even after the trial she is afraid the mob boss will try to kill them, so she takes her son to Guatemala. Cordell follows her and she incriminates him by wearing a hidden tape recorder. Before Cordell is brought to justice, he kills his former mob boss in an attempt to take over the business.
