Father Andrew Kiernan is investigating a religious miracle at the funeral of Father Paulo Alameida in Brazil, when a young boy steals a rosary. The rosary ends up in the hands of atheist, Frankie Paige, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon receiving the rosary, Frankie starts to experience unexplained phenomenon. Frankie begins to receive stigmata, the wounds that Christ received on the cross. A priest who witnesses Frankie’s strange experiences notifies the Vatican. Father Kiernan is called to help Frankie. Father Kiernan realizes that Frankie is possessed by Father Alameida who is trying to reveal the message written in a lost book of the Bible. Father Kiernan frees Frankie from the possession and helps Father Alameida’s spirit recover the book.
