Jake is a girl from Tennessee who goes to New York City looking for a career in the music industry. She takes a job at a club owned by Jerry but finds that she cannot leave the gig because she is under contract. So she proposes a bet to Jerry to win her freedom, she will teach anyone Jerry chooses to sing and if she is successful, Jerry will let her out of her contract. Jerry chooses a cabby, Nick for the bet. Jake takes Nick back to Tennessee to teach him to sing, but Nick proves a difficult student. Jake must find a way to teach Nick to sing so that she can escape Jerry and find a real career. |
