With barely any police officers to cover the local neighborhood, Commandant Lassard comes up with a brilliant idea: regular citizens as cops. Enlisting the help of his former Police Academy alumni, Mahoney, Hightower, Hooks, Tackleberry and several other standouts start recruiting volunteers. Because many people in the neighborhood already have jobs, the police have their pick of high school dropouts and retired grandparents. However, these people shine within the new program called COP, or citizens on patrol. They are slowly trained to help out on the streets. Lassard's archenemy, Captain Harris, abhors the new training program and looks to destroy it. He is after Lassard's job. It is up to the Police Academy alumni and trainees to thwart Harris's attempts at sabotage before the neighborhood erupts into more crime and violence. |
