Overview
A rugby team from Uruguay is traveling over the Andes mountains when their airplane clips the side of a mountain. The plane is forced to crash-land, leaving some dead and many injured. Grappling with a radio that tells the news that the rescue mission has been called off and dealing with the brutal, snowy conditions of the Andes, the survivors face a grim future. With a rapidly dwindling supply of food, the survivors must make a heart-rending decision about how to continue. A bleak future prompts unthinkable behavior. Some of the survivors decide to get the necessary nourishment to endure the struggle by eating the remains of their deceased companions. The fierce will to live prompts their actions and eventually leads to their rescue.
