Overview
Former beauty queen, Birdee Calvert-Pruitt, led an enviable life until the moment she was ambushed on a national trash talk show by her husband and best friend. Reeling from the very public revelation of an affair between the two people she trusted most, Birdee and her young daughter, Bernice, seek refuge by moving back to her hometown. Making life difficult are the jealous friends and high school acquaintances who show obvious enjoyment at Birdee's misfortune. Depressed and struggling, she rediscovers an old friend and now resident handyman, Justin Matisse. Justin was the first boy to ever kiss Birdee and he is, even now, still in love with her. As she and her daughter slowly adjust to their new circumstances, Birdee regains her sense of hope.
