A stylish and slightly fictionalized look at the life of famed Hollywood screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. Often called 'Mank' for short, Herman Mankiewicz co-wrote the screenplay for the iconic film, Citizen Kane, along with director Orson Welles. Mankiewicz's life and struggles with alcoholism and disillusionment with Hollywood are the central themes. His story serves as a model for Hollywood moviemakers in general who are depicted as cynical, debauched, greedy and unhappy in their work as they mass produce films for what they perceive as dumbed-down audiences. Created using black-n-white reproduction techniques to make it match the look of 1930s-40s era films.
