In the Appalachian Mountains, old traditions remain strong in isolated communities. Many people continue to consider serpent handlers as true servants of the Christian God.
In dark and wild forests, an obscure Pentecostal community that practices snake handling follows strict rules prescribed by Pastor Lemuel Childs. Lemuel's daughter, Hope, has always stayed true to their religion and these rules. Yet, as her wedding day draws near, another member of the community gives Hope reason to question her faith.
Hope tries to walk on a path of love, but her actions directly oppose her father's dreams and the traditions of the community.
When the secret comes out, she finds herself facing the horrible and deadly aspects of their religion.
