Overview
In the Great Plains in the later half of the 1800s, Lizzy Macklin and her husband Isaac live alone on a ranch in an isolated area. One day, Isaac tells Lizzy that he's met a couple, Emma and Gideon Harper, who have built a cabin nearby. The women and men soon become neighborly and visit each others homes. Lizzy and Isaac soon notice that Emma and Gideon seem nervous. The wind in the plains is ever-present. It plays tricks on the mind. Lizzy is often fearful of being alone in such a harsh and dangerous place. A pregnant Emma eventually reveals an unhealthy obsession with demons, and Lizzy starts to lose track of time. When an old Reverend shows up and starts questioning an alone Lizzy about an empty cabin near her home, Lizzy's hold on reality unravels...
