Overview
Ed Hemsler obsesses about the future. He spends most of his retirement stocking up and preparing for a possible natural or man-made global catastrophe. The only break in his routine is when he sees Ronnie Meisner at the grocery store. Ed has noticed her before, but he's never had the courage to speak to her. Then, one day, Ed decides to take a chance. They start dating soon after and Ed even shares his fear of an apocalypse with Ronnie. Yet, Ed isn't alone in how he approaches life: even as he obsesses about a terrifying future that might never come to pass, Ronnie obsesses about old wars and the past and hoards things. Can love between two people so focused on different points in time ever be enough to help them to stay together in the present?
