Overview
Bay area writer Laura Albert sets out in her writing career to write novels like Sarah and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things. Tp create additional buzz around her writing, she writes her novels under the pseudonym Jeremiah Terminator or JT Leroy. To make Leroy a bit more interesting, she creates a persona with a backstory of once being a truck stop hooker. For years, Albert keeps Leroy out of public, only conversing with the outside world over the phone. When she meets Savannah Knoop, she enlists her services to take Leroy public. For the next six years, Knoop as Leroy becomes a very popular figure, negotiating life as a writer who is really someone else.
