Overview
Lillie Rowe, a beautiful pre-WWI American nurse, has strong beliefs about making the world a better place. Convinced that she can make a positive difference, she travels to a remote location in the heart of the Ottoman Empire to help a doctor, Jude, at a mission hospital. During the journey, Lillie meets Ismail, an Ottoman Imperial Army lieutenant. As conflict between the Turks and Armenians starts to reach a boiling point, Lillie struggles to find her place in a world where women and Americans are looked down upon by everyone. She also tries to understand her growing love for Ismail.
