Trailer | Overview Norman and Paul Maclean grow up in 1920s Montana as brothers under the care of their minister father, Rev. Maclean, who teaches them the lessons of life in the classroom of the river where the three of them spend time fly-fishing. As they age, Norman and Paul become increasingly different. Norman becomes scholarly and and gets a job as a teacher; Paul grows wild and lands a job as a journalist. When Norman returns home after being away at school, he sees the reckless life Paul leads, but he can't quite drag Paul away from alcohol and gambling. Though always bonded by the river and the lure of catching fish, the two live different lives, leading to tragic consequences for one of them. |
