Overview
The popular and long-running radio show is on the edge of cancellation. When a new company buys the radio station, they send the “Axeman” to decide whether or not to keep the show going. He meets various members of the show's ensemble, including Rhonda and Yolanda Johnson and the Singing Cowboys. In addition to the Axeman, the show receives another backstage visitor, this one a mysterious woman named Asphodel. It becomes clear that her comforting presence may actually be not of this world. She comforts one of the cast members as he dies and escorts him to heaven. Her angelic presence doesn't save the show, however, which ends up being cancelled. All the cast members gather at a diner to reminisce.
