Overview
A large alien spacecraft appears above Johannesburg, South Africa in 1982. Members of the Army board the ship and find a group of dying aliens that look like prawns. The aliens are taken down to Earth, but quarantined in an area known as 'District 9'. While attempting to evict the aliens to a different camp, a South African government official is infected with a fluid that slowly begins morphing him into an alien. Now, infected government official must work with the aliens to capture some stolen technology from his government in order to help the aliens re-power their spaceship, and reverse his infection before he completely turns into an alien.
