Dave and Alice are an Australian couple whose marriage is on shaky ground. Partly in an attempt to salvage their relationship, they spend a vacation in Thailand and Cambodia. Their traveling partners on this journey are Steph, Alice’s sister, and Jeremy, Steph’s boyfriend. At first, this trip is plenty of fun: The four tourists frolic on the beach and dance under moonlit skies. However, Jeremy soon goes missing. While Dave and Alice return to Australia as scheduled, Steph remains in Southeast Asia as the authorities try to locate him. This suspenseful story does not unravel chronologically. Rather, "Wish You Were Here" leaps back and forth through time as the mystery unfolds and the characters’ shocking secrets are revealed one by one. |
