Overview
Joe Troy is a boy on the verge of adolescence eager to assert his independence, especially from his overbearing father Frank. He needs an escape from the society that is encroaching upon him, so he comes up with a brilliant plan. Together with his best friend Patrick and a boy named Biaggio who they don't know as well, he decides that he is going to spend his summer doing exactly what he pleases. The boys head for the woods, where they build a cabin with the intention of living on their own away from the prying eyes of the adults in their lives. They will have the freedom to live on their own terms in an idyllic wilderness, but their independence comes with a cost.
