A group of Russian rebels has taken control of some nuclear missiles. The American military has to stop them, and the nuclear submarine Alabama is part of the response. Captain Ramsay commands the Alabama, and he is a hard-nosed battle veteran. The new first officer on the submarine is the young and inexperienced Commander Hunter. The Alabama receives orders to attack. During the transmission of the orders, their communications equipment breaks down. They do not receive final confirmation to launch their nuclear missiles, but Captain Ramsay wants to fire anyway. Commander Hunter disagrees, and he relieves the captain of duty and takes over command. Some of the men aren’t happy with the situation, and they work with Captain Ramsay to take back control of the ship while the threat of World War III hangs over their heads. |
