Overview
Melanie Stryder is among the last of the humans who have not been taken over by a parasitic alien life form. These aliens are implanted on the brain stem of the human host and take over the human’s body and resuming the human’s life. Melanie sacrifices herself one evening when she, her brother, her boyfriend, and a few others are out trying to get supplies for their base camp. Melanie becomes a host for the alien who names herself Wanda, but instead of quietly going away as happens in most hosts, Melanie is still consciously alive inside her own head. She and Wanda fight for control, and eventually Melanie convinces Wanda to head towards her base camp for help.
