Overview
Lawless tells the story of the Bondurant Brothers, siblings who attempted to achieve the American dream through bootlegging in the Prohibition Era. Forrest, Jack, and Howard Bondurant made moonshine in Virginia. They ran a successful business and used their gas station as a front. Jack witnesses a mobster murdering a competitor. Soon thereafter, the gas station is visited by a deputy who announces that he wants a cut of the family's illegal profits. The gangster movie is inspired by real-life stories of Matt Bondurant in a novel he wrote about his family.
