Overview
Don Miller was raised by a very religious mother who used religion to educate and oppress her son. As Don got older, he realized that the strict religious life was not for him and he wanted to experience other points of view. His father did not share his mother's strict religious views and his father encouraged Don to enroll on the conservative Reed College after graduating from high school. Don was excited at the idea of meeting people who were not tied to religion, but he was not prepared for how far to the other side of the scale his new college friends would be. The anti-everything views of his new college friends causes Don to join several groups that get him to think that maybe what he learned when he was younger was not all there is to know.
