Overview
Bastian Bux is about to go on an adventure, but it is unlike anything he has ever seen. Pestered by bullies, Bastian finds himself hiding in an old bookstore. He sees an ancient book with an ornate cover. He ends up taking the book and relegating himself to the school attic to read the story as the bullies look for him outside. Bastian immerses himself in the story of Atreyu and his battle against the Nothing. His world is slowly dissolving from the Nothing's strength as he is directed to the Southern Oracle for help. The book's characters, however, can hear Bastian's gasps of surprise as the story unfolds. Reality and fantasy collide as Bastian finds himself helping Atreyu to save the book's realm and restore peace to all the creatures.
