Overview
In a Montreal elementary school, students face the loss of their teacher, who commits suicide. The teacher is replaced by Monsieur Lazhar, and Algerian immigrant who has his own reasons to grieve. Working with the students, Monsieur Lazhar helps them process their loss and grow past the sadness that they feel. But he hadn't anticipated how much the children would teach him in the process. As they work together, each member of the classroom begins to touch the lives of the others.
