Trailer | Overview Jack McCall is a slick-talking literary agent who isn't afraid to stretch the truth in order to close a deal. His latest deal, with self-help guru Dr. Sinja, falls apart when Sinja sees through Jack's lies and fails to deliver the book he promised. As if by magic, a Bohdi Tree appears in Jack's back yard. Sinja and Jack come to realize that the tree loses a leaf for each Jack speaks. Sinja tells Jack that when the last leaf falls, the tree will die and so will Jack. As time goes on, Jack learns that he and the tree are connected by more than just words. Everything that happens to the tree affects Jack in a similar fashion. As his life and relationships unravel over his refusal to speak more words than absolutely necessary, Jack seeks Sinja's help in saving both the tree and himself. Sinja tells Jack that he just repair those damaged relationships with his remaining words, and so he seeks out his estranged wife and mother, but learns that there are deeper wounds he must heal if he is to prevent the tree from losing its last leaf. |
