Trailer | Overview Writer James Miller travels to Italy to give a talk on the issue of authentic vs. copied works of art. At the event, Miller meets a French woman and her young son; she requests the author's autograph and leaves her phone number behind. Later that day, they meet again at the woman's antique shop; the couple drive around the lovely Tuscan countryside while chatting about the problem of art fakes, and whether any work can be said to be an original. When they make a museum stop, the relationship takes a turn when the woman's son starts rebelling, and Miller seems to condone his behavior. A visit to a cafe then leads to a play of sorts, in which Miller and the woman take the roles of husband and wife, mother and father. The conversation, in English and French, becomes combative and personal, but the two call a cease-fire just before the film comes to an ambiguous end. |
