The Battle of Gettysburg is explored in detail in a documentary that highlights the impact this battle had on the young nation. As winner of four primetime Emmys, it is impressive in its attention to detail. Re-enactors recreate a pivotal battle in the Civil War, fought for three days in July of 1863. Considered the point that would finally turn the tide in favor of the Union, it resulted in the greatest death toll of any, single battle. It is estimated that 51,000 men died in this bloody battle. Strategy, as devised by General Lee and General Grant, is a focal point, as well as personal strife for the men who are trapped in the horrors of war with no end in sight.
