Annie Clarke and Chris Harper are best friends who frequently get together to attend meetings of the Women's Institute in Yorkshire. They like the opportunity to see other women their age, but they are frustrated by how dull and lifeless the group sometimes is. They want to do something to insert a little excitement into their little club. After Annie's husband dies, Chris decides they should raise money to buy a sofa for the hospital family room in his memory. She suggests they do this by creating a calendar that will feature each of them naked. Although the photos are composed very tastefully, it's still a scandal, and Chris finds herself at the center of a media frenzy that tests her lifelong friendship with Annie. |
