Overview
After a chance meeting, pregnant Cindy and Dean rush into marriage. Both are certain Bobby, Cindy's ex, is her baby's father, but they overlook this detail. Dean is a high school dropout working for a moving company in New York City. Cindy is a pre-med student caring for an aging grandmother in Pennsylvania. Bobby hears about the wedding news and assaults Dean at his job. After the wedding, Cindy and Dean move to Pennsylvania. Cindy finds work as a nurse, and Dean paints houses. Dean thinks life is good, but Cindy believes he's an alcoholic. They quarrel frequently. One day, Dean and Cindy try to repair their relationship with a night at a motel, but they end up fighting. They then decide to separate temporarily.
