Overview
The inevitable war that pits man against machine and destroyed the world is also an event that enabled a new type of life to be born. A doll that is hand stitched with the number 9 on it suddenly comes to life. Not only does he realize that he is not alone in the world, but that all of the other dolls like him also have numbers on their backs. He first meets doll number 2 and learns a good deal about what happened to the world. 2 is also excited about the disk that 9 carries, an item which has three mysterious symbols on the front of it. However, 9 also learns that not only is the disk vital to the world he lives in, he also realizes that his fellow dolls must risk their lives to save what is left of mankind from a terrible enemy.
