A crook named Tom Turner makes a living scheming and conning people out of their money. His dishonest life catches up with him when he pulls a con on an undercover police officer. He lands in court and needs to decide whether to continue on a path of crime or get an honest job. Tom decides to stay out of jail and take a job at a post office sorting undeliverable mail. He mistakenly answers letters to God by sending money. Tom's colleagues follow his good deed and help others by answering their letters to God.
