Trailer | Overview In the early years of the twentieth century, sex was something present but still well hidden, a source of constant tension as well as a never-exhausted source of comedic complications and hilarity. When a successful philosophy professor and his modishly young fiancee arrive for a pleasant country weekend, they're very quickly falling into complications with Adrian -- the professor's cousin -- and her oddly neurotic husband, inventor and financier Andrew. Rounding out the randy ensemble is a womanizing doctor and his close companion, a nurse who's open to new men and new experiences. Director Woody Allen brought plots and ideas from his film heroes Ingmar Bergman and Jean Renoir, and enlisted then-flame Mia Farrow in the first of eleven appearances she made in his ensemble comedy/dramas. |
