Andrew, a black man making a successful living as a professional writer, purchases a high-end luxury home in upscale New England. The police, finding it unusual that a black man is in the community, assume he is a burglar. They surround the home with armed police and SWAT teams before the police chief realizes his mistake. He strikes a deal with a local jailed thief, Amos, to pretend to break into the home and take Andrew hostage, and then release him unharmed. After some antics, Amos and Andrew realize that the police chief has set them both in a trap, and strike an unlikely friendship. Throughout their plan to escape, they share their personal experiences and discuss racial and social issues, forging an unlikely friendship. |
