After the Black is stolen by his former Arabian owners, Alec Ramsay ventures to distant Morocco on an adventure to rescue his beloved horse from a sheikh and bring him home. In the course of his quest, Alec experiences many hardships in the desert, including being stranded, dehydration, and kidnapped. When he learns the sheikh intends to enter the horse in The Great Race, Alec asks to be the jockey. At first he is denied, but he earns the sheikh's respect and is allowed. He wins the race, despite being chased and shot at by Kurr, a member of a rogue tribe. After the race Alec choose to leave the Black in Morocco, despite his agreement with the sheikh, because the horse seems happier there. |
