Overview
In the New England community of New Bedford, a young man named Ishmael joins the Whaling ship, the Pequod. The ship is run with an iron fist by the enigmatic and driven Captain Ahab, who walks with a replacement leg fashioned from the jawbone of a whale. As the Pequod sets sail Ishmael begins to learn more about his shipmates, and Ahab. The captain is determined to track down and kill Moby Dick, a huge, white sperm whale that is responsible for taking Ahab's leg and seems to have almost supernatural strength. As the Pequod continues to track Moby Dick across the globe, Ahab becomes obsessed with getting his revenge, and is prepared to trade the lives of his entire crew if needed.
