In 1950s Mississippi, Imabelle's gangster boyfriend Slim pulls an enormous heist. Imabelle takes advantage of the arrival of the police and absconds to New York City with the loot. By the time she reaches Harlem, she has run out of money and needs a place to stay until she can unload the gold. Luckily, she meets Jackson, a meek undertaker's assistant who quickly falls for her. Imabelle hopes to exchange her loot for cold, hard cash. However, Slim soon shows up looking for his stolen haul. |
