In a German prisoner of war camp during World War II, a group of allied soldiers are seen playing soccer by ranking members of the German army who are visiting the camp. One of the men recognizes the leader of the allied prisoners, John Colby, who is a professional player in England. The prisoners are coaxed into playing an exhibition game in Paris against a team of German soldiers in exchange for better treatment. The allied team agrees, but they have secret plans. With the help of a Canadian prisoner named Hatch, they hope to make contact with the French Resistance and make an escape. But just with the path to freedom is opened, the prison team's goals change. |
