Overview
Pierre, a Russian intellectual, is unaffected by the up-coming fight against Napoleon's army and receives a large inheritance from his father. Though is love with young Natasha, he decides to marry Princess Helene. Disillusioned by his wife's manipulations, he is drawn back to Natasha, who has fallen for a womanizer. Pierre witnesses the utter destruction caused by Napoleon's invasion and decides that he cannot remain indifferent to the world around him. He attempts to set the world right by killing Napoleon himself.
